Cougarettes volleyball is continuing to dominate and is on a tear. I recently had a chance to talk to head Coach Heather Sanders, and she brought up some interesting points.
When I had asked about how the season is going she simply said, “The season is going really well. We are 39-9, and we won our first playoff game. We finished second in the Volley Fest and also finished fifth in the Katy tournament. It’s just been a successful season.”
This season had a rough start by losing the first game, but the Cougarettes continued to fight and ended the season with an impressive record of 13-1. Coach Sanders even mentioned that the team is new and had some changes. “ We graduated ten players last year and haven’t had much experience with the new players. We lost our first district game, then went on to finish 13-1. We had to learn to bond with each other and learn the player types.”’
It was a very good finish to the regular season by the Cougarettes considering the team had little experience with each other. This just goes to show the hardwork and dedication the team has shown because it is very hard to win 13 straight games with teammates you have played very little with before.
With playoffs starting, Coach Sanders said her favorite part of the season is, “I think we have passed the limitations others expected from us, even myself, because of the new team and players.”
Overall, good job to our volleyball team and a great way to end from a rocky start.
