Canyon Cougar’s 2023 track team is one to remember. This 2023-2023 season was recorded to have gone very well with 25 individuals qualifying for the Area Track meet and 11 others qualifying for Regionals. 

While only one athlete qualified for the state meet, the championships were the best part of the season. The future goal of the track team is to have more advance to area meets. This generally brings the team more confidence in themselves and they start to believe they are a good team.

Coach Gamez reported that 25 athletes from this season are seniors, so next year will be a lot of younger, newer athletes taking over the leadership role. This means the team has to rely on the newer kids to do the best they can and lead each other. 

Let’s give a big shout-out to all of the track athletes for such an amazing season and wish them good luck to start out strong for next year’s season!
