The Canyon Cougarettes soccer team had their first soccer game on December 9 and won 5-1 over Madison. On December 14, JV and Varsity both won 8-0 against Victoria East. On December 28th, JV won 8-0 against Stevens and Varsity also won.  

After falling short against New Braunfels on January 3rd, Varsity won 2-1 against Brennan on January 5th to start off the Ranger Classic. Varsity won 1-0 over El Paso Franklin on January 6th and 3-1 against Austin Bowie and ended their weekend with an undefeated 3-0 at the Ranger Classic. 

Varsity and JV both won 2-0 over San Marcos on January 10th. After falling to Leander, Canyon beat Hendrickson 2-0 on January 13th. On January 14th, the Cougarettes beat College Park 3-1 with an overall of  2-1 at Grizzly Classic. 

On January 17, JV won 6-0 and varsity won 3-1 against Steele.

The Canyon girls soccer coach, Mr. Martinez, said that what he loves about his players is that they are willing to work hard and put in the extra work to get to where they want to be. He also said that what his players can improve on is attention to detail and that they are working well but still have a lot to work on.

Mr. Martinez said that why he wanted to be a soccer coach because, “I’ve been playing soccer my entire life, since I was 9, and ever since then, I fell in love with it.”
