Snickerdoodle+Recipe
Kamryn Jasch

One of the best parts of the holidays is all the delicious baked goods. They can bring family and friends together, and snickerdoodles are the best way to do that. Snickerdoodles are vanilla sugar cookies coated in a cinnamon sugar mix. This Snickerdoodle recipe will make everyone who tries it feel like they are in the holiday spirit. These cookies are so chewy and delicious! Make sure to spread some holiday cheer by baking snickerdoodles. Have a great break Cougars!

Equipment

  • Mixing bowl
  • Hand mixer or stand mixer
  • Cookie scoop, or spoons

Ingredients

  • 1 cup of butter, at room temperature
  • 1 ½  cups of sugar
  • 1 large egg, room temperature
  • 2 ¼ cups of all-purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • ½  teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • A mixture of cinnamon and sugar in a bowl, about ¼ cup of sugar mixed with 2 Tbsp of cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F
  2. Line the cookie sheets with parchment paper
  3. Cream together the butter and sugar until it’s light and fluffy, which should take around 3 min.
  4. Add an egg and mix until combined
  5. Stir in flour, baking powder, and salt until well combined
  6. Add vanilla extract
  7. Scoop cookie dough and roll it into balls
  8. Roll cookie dough around in the cinnamon sugar mixture until well-coated
  9. Place cookies on a tray around 2 inches apart and lightly press down on the cookies. (The more you press, the flatter they will be.)
  10. Bake for 8-10 minutes or until lightly browned
  11. Cool on a cookie rack
  12. Enjoy!

Tips

  • Using a stand mixer is easier than a hand mixer.
  • The cookie dough may be sticky and a little warmer, so you might want to place the dough in the fridge for a couple of minutes to keep the dough together. It is not necessary though.
  • Warm the cookie up for 10 seconds in the microwave if you like the taste of cookies fresh from the oven.
