The Canyon High School baseball team has finished up their season. They finished with a record of 15-15 and finished 6-9 in the district and missed the district playoffs by a single game. After a great start to the season going into the final stretch of the season, the team went 2-8 making it a close race to make the playoffs. After a very close loss to the Seguin Matadors on 4/29, the Canyon Cougars were knocked out of playoff contention.
When speaking with Coach Kozole, he gave his opinions on the team. He said that the young men on the team are playing hard and learning the game.
“The team is a very young team really buying in and giving everything they’ve got.”
He says that the team improved incredibly from the first day to now. He adds that every player has improved leaps and bounds in swing speed, arm strength, and fielding percentage. He notes that it’s been a huge year of improvement though the team has had its ups and downs. The team has continued to fight and learn and he likes the trajectory of the team.
“The boys have to come out and play and give everything they’ve got,” said Coach Kozole.
To conclude, the Canyon baseball team has fought hard all season. Although falling short, the team has played to the best of their ability to represent Canyon High School. We wish them good luck in the offseason and wish them luck in their 2024-2025 season and hope to see the team improve over their break.
