It’s almost here! The popular Tex-Mex restaurant Chuy’s is coming to New Braunfels. This exciting new addition is much needed for the rapidly growing city. It brings job opportunities for some and for others, it brings a spice of the Tex-Mex flavor to NB.
Chuy’s originated in Austin, Texas, on Barton Springs Road in 1982. The Texas-Mexican style of food put the Chuy’s name on the map bringing in both the cultures of big Texas food with a Mexican twist. Chuy’s is also known for its elaborate decorations in all of their locations. This is thanks to Jose Cuervo, their interior designer. A wacky fact about the Chuy’s restaurant is that in 2001, former president George W. Bush’s twin daughters were cited at the original Barton Springs location for using fake IDs to buy alcohol (both 19 years old at the time). 1
The newest location will be located at 2557 N. I-35, New Braunfels. This location could be both a positive and negative thing. With the negative aspect being that the location is just off of IH-35 with the busiest rush hour traffic. This could possibly only add to the traffic in the area. On the bright side, the new location is in a busy area, so this does make the new restaurant very accessible to a wide variety of people.
With Chuy’s being accessible to so many people in the area, this opens up the opportunity for new jobs. So far, we here at Canyon High School have had encounters with the Chuy’s incorporation offering jobs to students during all lunches. With the summer break not too far away and summer jobs being in need, it may be the perfect place of work for many students in and around the area.
Rounding it off, Chuy’s new location here in New Braunfels, Texas, brings many things to the table such as job opportunities and a new restaurant in the area. It is set to open on February 20, 2024. The wait can finally be over for some people and for others, it’s an introduction to a style of food only found here in the heart of Texas.
