Vertigo Marching Band
November 15, 2022
The Canyon Marching Band has been working for months on their show, Vertigo. The directors, Mrs. Alvarado, Mr. Arnold, Ms. Schooler, and Mr. Vaden have worked hard with the kids of the marching band and the color guard to make them better and better each day. Ms. Scooler said her favorite part about the show was, “ toward the end of the show when all the colors come out and the Color Guard has their sleeves on and they’re spinning their rainbow flags and their ribbons,” Ms. Scooler explained that most of the show was pretty tame until this point when it gets crazy and a lot of fun.
The marching band performed for finals on October 22 and placed 5th in the finals; everyone was so excited to go to finals after 29 years. Ms. Scooler was really proud of how the students performed. She felt it only got better all day.
The band participated in practice competitions at the Seguin Marching Festival on October 1st and the Comal ISD Showcase on October 3rd at Smithson Valley High School. Canyon High School hosted the Comal Classic on October 8; this event is held annually as an opportunity for bands to practice and receive feedback before UIL competitions.
The Canyon High School Marching Band competed at the UIL Region Competition on October 15 at Heroes Stadium and at UIL Area Competition on October 22 at Weiss HS where the band advanced to finals and earned 5th place. Way to go and congratulations to the Cougar band
