The Canyon Cougar bowling team advanced to the state playoffs. As a whole, the team finished the season with a 9-1 record making them first in the district and earning them an opportunity to compete at the district tournament.
After finishing 4th in the district, the team traveled to Fort Worth and competed at Cityview Lanes to play in the State tournament. The team did not qualify but they fought hard and played to the best of their ability. We hope to see them back in the same spot next season. With the season coming to a close freshman bowler Connor Schurig reflected on this past season
Connor was very enthusiastic coming into this season. He was the only freshman on the varsity team and had a chip on his shoulder coming into the season. All in All, He felt pretty good about the bowling season “It was really nice to bowl with some new people…” and some returning faces. In his opinion, he feels like he could have done better but did exceptionally well for being a freshman. He added that he’ll miss the support from his teammates and the whole team aspect of the game. Lastly, he hopes to do better in the coming years and better perfect his game in the offseason.
For Connor, his season is not quite done yet. He has been selected for the all-district team for the Comal district and competes on April 7th.
As the season winds down the Canyon Cougar bowling team had another successful season. While not only qualifying for districts but going on to the state playoffs this team has been a treat to see over the season. We look forward to seeing this team next year.
