The Canyon High School boys soccer team has been on a tear recently, going on an impressive five-game win streak to start the season. As the season begins, we expect to see this team go very far into the season with an impressive record. With new faces and returning upperclassmen, the team has a good group put together.

Coming off a 12-9-3 (12 wins, nine losses, and three ties) record last season, the Cougars hope to replicate the success they had in previous years where the standard was 15 wins on the year. With the team starting 5-1 and dropping their last game to Leander by a score of 1-0, the team has a very impressive start to the season so far.

When mentioning the players, he stated that it’s a good team that has good senior leadership and some good younger players and that they’re all “Geling pretty well together.”

When talking about the future of the team, Coach Rush said that it was very likely to make the playoffs “almost a standard at this point”. By now, this soccer program has a 21-year playoff streak. Bringing up the weaknesses of the team, he mentioned the conditioning aspect of the team. He wants to better condition his players to better prepare them for 80 minutes of high-intensity matches. Speaking about what he hopes for the rest of the season, Coach put it
