As the end of the school year is approaching, many students and teachers are beginning to prepare for the testing season. Types of tests can vary from STAAR testing, Advanced Placement (AP) tests and finals. Most individuals find this time hard, as many of the students have to study and teachers have to plan the work and help their students make sure they receive the best results.
Freshman Peyton Little said, “Getting ready for testing is stressful for me because I have to do lots of work while doing things outside of school.”
While preparing for testing, there are many testing websites that help prepare; these can be tools such as College Board and Mastery Prep. These websites provide tips like how students can study and practice tests that students may complete to see their score and how they can improve.
Many teachers have overwhelming challenges with the testing season upon us. AP World History teacher Mr. Hebert stated, “Getting students ready for the AP is very important to ensure that they get good scores, so what I’m doing is giving preps and reviews for them to complete.”
STAAR testing is a big event for many schools in Texas, and here at Canyon we prioritize this test because it shows improvement and growth among the students here at Canyon High School. As STAAR is upon us, teachers are preparing by giving assignments to students to help them feel confident for the test.
Senior Lexie Patio said, “Preparing for the TSI was the most difficult part for me because I had to complete lots of reviews.”
Challenges have also been shown through learning and test results, but teachers will not let these challenges bring students down and always find ways to make improvements happen.
Sophomore Astrid Castillo stated, “For me, preparing for testing is hard because I have to do more work and study.”
The Cougar Tracks wishes everyone good luck on their upcoming tests. Do not forget to study. Always remember – you’ve got what it takes!
