In October, there were many Homecoming events at Canyon High School, which included football games, dress up days and of course the dance. On October 27, the Homecoming football game took place, which many of the Canyon high school students attended. The theme was “White Out.” We played Judson and lost 36-8. The game was fun and the atmosphere was great. Students wore their mums, garters and a lot of paint. Also at the football game, the Homecoming court was announced.
Senior Bailey Sanchez won Homecoming Queen. Bailey said it was very stressful but it was a good experience. She mentioned that it was a memorable experience running for Homecoming Queen
Dress up days were full of students and teachers dressing up to themes such as Anything but a Backpack, Pajama day and disney.It was very fun to see students dress up and bring entertaining props to replace their backpacks. Disney day was one of the themes;it was very entertaining to see all the students wear Disney related outfits.
Another topic was mums and garters that were made with ribbon, flowers and accessories. Mums ranged from small to huge mums that had to be
Saturday was the Homecoming dance. Many students attended in their fancy dresses and nice suits to dance and listen to the DJ’s selection of music.The theme of the dance was “Tangled.” Addison Brown attended the dance, and said, “It was a really good experience and we got to hang out with our friends and have a good time dancing, taking pictures, eating food and just having a good time. also loved when they played praise [music]. That was amazing.”
Sophomore Elijah Ferniz said, “My favorite part of the week had to be the football game because being in band and having the opportunity to play as the people got announced as Homecoming King or Queen was so memorable.”
Homecoming week overall was a memorable time . allowing students to have fun. Hopefully next year’s Homecoming will be just as memorable.
